化学工业是国民经济发展中一个多品种、多层次、服务面广、配套性强的重要基础产业，
同时又是资金密集、能源密集和技术密集的产业。化学工业为农业提供肥料、农药、植物生
长激素等化学产品，提高了农作物的产量和质量，促进了粮食和蔬菜等农作物的增产，减轻
了人口增长对粮食需求的压力。化学工业为国防提供火药和多种具有特殊性能的化学品，如
高能燃料、高能电池、高敏胶片以及耐高温、耐辐射材料等。光学材料、超导材料等各种功
能材料和新型复合材料的问世与应用，推动了科技的发展。

化学工业从形成倒现在经历了两百多年的历史，趋势：原料、产品和生产方法多样

1.自我介绍
Good morning, my dear teachers and professors, it is a pleasant thing to be here
for this interview. First of all, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is
******, 23, and I come form ****（, the starting point of ancient "Marine Silk
Road" ） .my major is Pharmaceutical Engineering and I will accomplish my
undergraduate course in **** in July, 2010; I hope I can get the opportunity to finish
my postgraduate courses in East China University of Science And Technology, which
I have desired for three years.
General speaking, I am responsible, active and cooperative. In my spare time,
I like learning about current affairs, going swimming and playing badminton. I
am an engineering student during my college study, and I actively take part in all
kinds of useful activities and get scholarships for five times. I prefer
petrochemical engineering to Pharmaceutical Engineering .In addition, I have passed
through CET-6 and I am skillful in searching for information in Internet.
Furthermore, I am eager to do my postgraduate study in East China University of
Science And Technology. In the past year I have been preparing for the postgraduate
examination. No pain, no gain. Finally, all my hard work has got a satisfactory result.
So, it is a great honor if I am accepted by this university. Now I’m sitting/standing
here with full confidence and ready to answer any question you put forward. Ok, that
is all. Thank you for listening and giving me such a valuable opportunity.
2.(reasons for my choice)
Two reasons: the chemical engineering plays an important role in social progress
and I am longing for doing research in this field. This is the first reason; the
second reason is that the knowledge I have acquired cannot meet my needs. I need
Stage of postgraduate study to promote myself. In a word, I am looking forward to
making a solid foundation for future profession after three years’ study here .,
3. (plans in the postgraduate study)

Firstly, I will acquire the expertise on chemical engineering systematical to
compensate for my shortcomings in this field.
Secondly, I hope to learn how to do the experimental work with the help of my mentor
and classmates.

4 .(about hometown)
I come from a small village of Quanzhou in Fujian. Quanzhou, also known as the
city of carp, is located in the southeast of Fujian and lies across the sea from
Taiwan. As the start of the ancient "Maritime Silk Road", the city is one of the
three central cities of Fujian, and has ranked No.1 position for ten years in a row
in terms of economic aggregate, which makes itself the economic center of Fujian.
The people in Quanzhou are warm-hearted and hospitable. Welcome to my hometown.
5. (about family)
There are four members in my family: my parents, my elder sister and me. Both
of my parents are peasants, and my elder sister is now working ***. During my
preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination, my parents’ love and support
have always been my power. I love my parents and I believe in future I will be able
to repay them.
6.(about university)
Zhejiang University of Technology , which was established in 1953, is a provincial
key comprehensive university. It has 21 colleges and 63 undergraduate programs. In
addition, it has established its position within top 100 universities in China.
The College of Pharmaceutical Science was established in 2000, and
pharmaceutical engineering is one of the most important subjects in Zhejiang
province.
7 . The importance of curiosity
Curiosity is an important trait, and it creates an interest in learning and
helps break down barriers in scientific study. In addition, curiosity has been the
driving force behind most inventions, discoveries in the history of mankind. Were
it not for Newton’s curiosity to the fall of the apple, there would not been the
discovery of gravity.
